Salford is a large city in the North of England that offers a diverse range of things to do. Whether you’re looking for something to keep the children entertained or something decadent and adult-only, there’s plenty to choose from. However, on this list, I’ve narrowed down the top four things for you to do in Salford this weekend.
It’s not just the city centre of Salford with plenty to offer. As the city spans outwards in every direction, there are many exquisite attractions for you to explore and many things to do. Whether you’re a student or a family looking for things to do, here are four things you should definitely check out this weekend:
This is one of the most revered theatres in all of England, with a vast amount of history and prestige. It’s a beautiful art-deco building that’s been the heart of theatre in Salford since it opened in 2000.
The Lowry is a culture hub located on Quayside, just 10 minutes from City Centre. There are plenty of exhibitions to check out and an ever-changing theatre programme.
What to See: The Lowry is famous for staging many shows. Whether it be musicals and plays or more new-age performances, you’re guaranteed to find something that fits your tastes.
The area includes several attractions and leisure facilities, including The Lowry Outlet Centre and Imperial War Museum. Salford Quays is the perfect place to go for a weekend away, especially if you love exploring new places and having a good time.
There’s nothing better than sinking back into a plush leather armchair and enjoying a delicious cocktail. After all, we can’t enjoy food without drinks!
What to See: One thing worth seeing here is the Salford City Beach – A stretch of smooth sand that once enjoyed a thriving holiday resort with guest houses, cafes, and entertainment. Today it is only sand and water, but it makes a pleasant afternoon walk or photograph spot!
For anyone looking for family-friendly activities, MediaCityUK is a great place to start. This unique area was built upon the site of two former shipyards and is home to more than 20 production companies, including ITV and BBC, apartments, a restaurant, and shops.
It is a new development situated next to the River Irwell that incorporates MediaCityUK, the BBC & many restaurants, bars, and shops. It is a great place to take pictures or have coffee or lunch.
This company is based in Salford and is responsible for creating cutting-edge gaming technology. Some of their games include the best-selling Worms franchise and the popular franchise Just Dance.
What to See: This company has several studios where they develop and design their games. One such studio is Eve Studios, the place for all of the Just Dance games. If you’re a fan of this series, it would be worth checking out the studio.
In terms of activities, there is no shortage of things to do in Salford. Unlike many other cities, though, Salford has many great places to visit and hang out.
